This Privacy Policy explains how Redgate VPN (“Redgate”, “we”, “us”) collects, uses, stores, and protects information when you use our apps, websites, support channels, and VPN services. It should be read together with our Terms of Service.
1. Information we collect
- Account and payment information: account ID, username, email address, subscription status, transaction records, billing country, and limited payment information supplied by payment providers. We do not store full bank-card details.
- Device and app information: platform, app version, device model, language, time zone, channel, IP address used to contact our service, and a stable random installation UUID. The historical API field name for this installation UUID is
imei; it is not a hardware IMEI or device serial number. - Connection and service information: requested server, server actually selected, connection status, node health, traffic totals and limits, diagnostic errors, and timestamps needed to operate the service.
- GPS and device location information, with consent: GPS-derived WGS84 approximate or precise latitude and longitude, horizontal accuracy, capture time, coordinate age, permission status, foreground/background access scope, automatic-selection setting, and derived country, province/state, city, and—when accuracy permits—district/county.
- Support information: messages, email address, account identifiers, and diagnostic details you provide when requesting help.
2. When GPS/device location is collected
Before requesting system location permission, the app presents a prominent disclosure and asks for your consent. If you consent and the operating system grants location permission, the app obtains location asynchronously after launch and reports it through a dedicated secure HTTPS endpoint. Obtaining or reporting location does not block the VPN connection. If location is temporarily unavailable or a report fails, the app may perform a limited number of retries at reasonable intervals.
While the VPN is connected, the app may continue to send a separate secure location report at an interval configured by the service, normally no more frequently than once per hour. Existing get_connect and check_connect requests do not contain latitude or longitude. Coordinates are reported only through the dedicated location endpoint. The app does not start periodic hourly location reporting while the VPN is disconnected.
If automatic access-point selection is off but location consent and system permission remain active, location may still be reported at the times described above to improve access services and connection quality. Turning off automatic selection only prevents the backend from selecting an access point based on location; it does not withdraw location consent. Users can stop location access and reporting through the app’s location-management settings or the operating system settings.
3. How location is used
Location is used only to select and improve VPN access points, determine an appropriate service region, consider node health and load, diagnose regional connection quality, and maintain service security.
When a user connects by selecting “Automatic Selection,” Redgate may choose an appropriate access point based on the authorized location, available service regions, node health, and load. Automatic selection does not include the free node (node ID 33333) as a candidate, even if that free node was previously selected.
When a user manually selects a specific server from the server list, that connection uses the server selected by the user and is not replaced by automatic-selection logic. Users may still select the free node manually.
Location is not sold, used for advertising, or used to build cross-app behavioral profiles. Administrative-area resolution is currently performed using data hosted in our own service environment; account and installation identifiers are not sent to a third-party geocoder.
4. Transmission, storage, and retention
GPS coordinates are sent only to a dedicated HTTPS endpoint using TLS 1.2 or later. The location payload is additionally wrapped in the app’s compatible encrypted format and is not placed in a URL, get_connect, or check_connect query. Redgate also has legacy direct HTTP-compatible endpoints for some non-location client/API operations; those endpoints do not provide the same transport protection, so this Policy does not claim that every category of service data is encrypted in transit. Keep the app updated and use HTTPS whenever available.
Location events may be associated with an account ID and installation UUID and stored with the requested and selected server. We retain account, connection, diagnostic, and device-level location records only for service operation, security, troubleshooting, support, and legal obligations. Under the current operating policy, device-level location records remain until the related account/device data is deleted or a verified deletion request is completed, unless a longer period is required for security, dispute resolution, or law. Aggregated, de-identified regional statistics may be retained longer.
5. VPN activity we do not collect
We do not log the contents of your VPN traffic, websites you visit, DNS queries, message contents, or browsing history. Connection status, traffic totals, node selection, and security diagnostics are service-operational records and are not logs of the content of your online activity.
6. Sharing and service providers
We may use infrastructure, payment, email, customer-support, security, and hosting providers only to the extent necessary to provide their services. They must handle information under appropriate confidentiality and security obligations. We may disclose information when required by law, to protect users and the service, or in connection with a corporate reorganization subject to applicable safeguards. We do not sell personal or location information.
7. Your choices and rights
- You may decline or revoke system location permission without losing login, support, manual server selection, or ordinary VPN access.
- You may turn automatic server selection on or off in the app. A mode change normally applies on the next connection.
- You may withdraw Redgate location consent in the app’s privacy settings. After withdrawal, the app stops obtaining and sending coordinates and may send a coordinate-free consent-withdrawn status through the dedicated secure endpoint so the latest stored location is invalidated.
- You may request access to or deletion of your account-linked location records by contacting us. We may verify account or device ownership before completing the request.
8. Security, children, and changes
We use access controls, authentication, restricted administrative access, backups, and other technical and organizational measures designed to protect information. No system is completely secure. Redgate is not directed to children below the minimum age required by local law, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information.
We may update this Policy when our products, laws, or data practices change. Material changes will be reflected by a new effective date or notice in the app or website.

2. GPS/设备定位数据的采集时机
应用在请求系统定位权限前，会先展示醒目说明并征得您的同意。在您同意且操作系统授予定位权限后，应用会在启动后异步获取并通过独立的安全 HTTPS 接口上报位置。定位获取或上报不会阻塞 VPN 连接；定位暂时不可用或上报失败时，应用可按合理间隔进行有限重试。
VPN 已连接期间，应用可按照服务端配置的间隔继续发送独立的安全定位报告，通常不高于每小时一次。现有 get_connect 和 check_connect 请求均不携带经纬度坐标，坐标只通过专用定位接口上报。VPN 未连接时，应用不会启动周期性的每小时定位上报。
即使自动选择接入点功能关闭，只要用户的定位同意和系统定位权限仍然有效，应用仍可在上述时机上报位置，用于改善接入服务和连接质量。关闭自动选择只表示后台不会根据位置替用户选择接入点，并不等于撤回定位同意。用户可以在应用的定位管理设置或操作系统设置中停止定位访问和上报。
3. 位置数据的用途
位置数据仅用于选择和改善 VPN 接入点、判断合适的服务区域、结合节点健康与负载进行调度、诊断区域连接质量以及维护服务安全。
当用户点击“自动选择”连接时，Redgate 可根据用户已授权的位置、可用服务区域、节点健康和负载情况选择合适的接入点。自动选择不会把免费节点（节点 ID 33333）作为候选节点，即使该免费节点此前处于选中状态。
当用户从服务器列表中手动选择具体服务器时，该次连接按用户指定的服务器执行，不由自动选择逻辑替换。用户仍可手动选择免费节点。
位置数据不会出售、不会用于广告，也不会用于建立跨应用行为画像。目前行政区解析使用部署在我们自身服务环境中的数据；我们不会把账号 ID 或安装 UUID 发送给第三方地理编码服务。

GPS 坐标只通过使用 TLS 1.2 或更高版本的独立 HTTPS 接口发送；定位内容还会使用应用兼容的加密格式封装，不会出现在 URL、get_connect 或 check_connect 查询参数中。Redgate 的部分非定位客户端/API 操作仍有旧版 HTTP 兼容直连接口，其传输保护与 HTTPS 不同，因此本政策不笼统声称所有类别的服务数据均已加密传输。请及时更新应用，并在可用时使用 HTTPS。

我们使用访问控制、身份验证、受限管理权限、备份及其他技术和管理措施保护信息，但任何系统都无法保证绝对安全。Redgate 不面向低于当地法律最低年龄的儿童，我们不会在明知的情况下收集其个人信息。
当产品、法律或数据处理方式变化时，我们可能更新本政策。重大变化将通过新的生效日期，或在应用和网站中通知。
